India has registered a spike of 34,884 new coronavirus cases and 671 deaths in the past 24 hours. The total positive cases in India now stands at 10,38,716, including 3,58,692 active cases, 6,53,751 cured/discharged/migrated and 26,273 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
US coronavirus cases rise by over 70,000 for second day in a row
For the second day in a row, coronavirus cases in the United States rose by over 70,000. US cases on Friday rose by at least 70,674 after climbing by a record 77,499 on Thursday. This is the largest increase in the coronavirus cases posted by any country since the pandemic started. The fatalities due to coronavirus rose by at least 912. Coronavirus cases are rising in 41 of 50 states, according to a Reuters analysis of cases the past two weeks compared with the previous two weeks. Deaths are rising in 19 states.
MP, Bihar, Telangana most vulnerable to coronavirus: Lancet
The latest Lancet report, based on publicly available data on coronavirus, shows that a number of districts in nine large states — Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha and Gujarat, have high overall vulnerability to the infection.

An assessment on the basis of housing, hygiene and health system threw Madhya Pradesh as the most vulnerable to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by those in Bihar and Telangana.

Covid screening, sampling centre established in Anantnag for migrants
A coronavirus screening and sampling centre has been established at Qazigund in Anantnag for migrant labourers coming from outside Kashmir valley. Presently, only migrant labourers who are working at brick kilns in Kashmir valley are allowed to enter.
India’s coronavirus cases over 10 lakh; Delhi sees drop
India on Friday registered highest-ever single-day surge in its coronavirus cases as the infection spread beyond the biggest cities, pushing the country past Russia as the third-most-infected country last week. India recorded 34,956 new infections on Friday. While it took 110 days for the Covid-19 cases in India to reach one lakh mark, it only took just 59 days more to go past the nine-lakh mark.

Delhi, which had been one of the worst-affected cities in India, has been witnessing a drop in the coronavirus cases. On Friday, Delhi recorded only 26 fatalities due to the infection. Delhi has over 1.2 lakh cases, of which, 99,000 people have recovered. Delhi has recorded 1,462 fresh coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the tally in the city to 120,107.
