NEW POKÉMON SNAP Announced and More from Today's Pokémon Presents

The Pokémon Company held a little news event this morning to show off some fun new things that they have in store for fans. These range from new apps to games, and even just updates for Pokémon GO and the DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Pokémon Smile was the first thing shown. It’s an app available now for Android and iOS that is designed with the hope of getting children to brush their teeth. As you brush your teeth, you’ll defeat bacteria and free Pokémon that you can then catch.

The next new project was Pokémon Cafe Mix. This game will be available soon on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch with pre-registration/pre-downloads available now. This game is more of a puzzle game where you have to connect as many Pokémon as you can to clear them. The weird thing is that in the video, it looks like you just swirl it around and get everything lined up that way for the most part. It wasn’t a great gameplay video in my opinion. However, as you play, you’ll bring more Pokémon to your cafe that you can befriend and hire and dress up in cute outfits. The game will be free-to-start.

Third, New Pokémon Snap was announced. Fans have been asking for a long time to get a sequel to the classic N64 title where instead of capturing Pokémon in Pokéballs, you capture them on film. It’s a fun game, and I’m happy and surprised that they announced it for the Nintendo Switch. The graphics look great, and it looks like it will feature a lot of Pokémon up through the most current generation. Unfortunately, we don’t have too many details on it though, and the release date was simply “Coming Soon.”

After these three new reveals, Tsunekazu Ishihara took some time to provide an update on Pokémon GO. He mentioned some more changes will be coming to help us continue to enjoy the game from home and talked a bit about how Pokémon GO Fest 2020 will be held virtually instead of in a specific city. It looks like this year’s catch will be Victini.

Finally, with Isle of Armor dropping today for Pokémon Sword and Shield, we got a small update there. To celebrate the launch, there will be a Max Raid Battle for Zeraora, and if 1 million players defeat it, everyone will be gifted a shiny Zeraora through the Pokémon Home app. It should be noted that players will not be able to catch the Zeraora from the raid.

The presentation then closed with a tease of another big project and the announcement that another Pokémon Presents would be happening next week on June 24 to give us even more news to talk about. I’m excited!
