The first match is on 9th April, defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Rising Pune Supergiants at the Wankhede Stadium.

Indian Premier League 2016
World’s most celebrated Twenty 20 league is knocking at the doors again. The ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is upon us. With two new teams (Rising Puen Super Giants and Gujarat Lions) coming into the fray in place of suspended franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, this season promises to throw up some surprises as there has been a lot of reshuffling of players amongst the eight outfits.
The latest IPL auctions saw a new trend whereby the franchises opted for tried and tested T20 specialists instead of big names of the cricketing world.
Mumbai Indians will open their title defence at home against new entrants Rising Pune Supergiants to kick-start the 2016 IPL on April 9. The tournament opener will take place at the Wankhede Stadium, the final on May 29 will also be played in Mumbai.
A total of 60 matches (including the 4 play-offs) will be played over a period of 51 days, in the ninth season of the tournament.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Raipur will play host to two home games of Delhi Daredevils, while the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur will host three home games of Kings XI Punjab.
