In Malda’s Kaliachowk, three people were hospitalized with bullet wounds.
According to police, workers of two political parties fired at each other following an altercation over the use of a wall for graffiti.
Family members of the injured owing allegiance to the Congress blamed the ruling Trinamool Congress for the attack.
In South 24 Parganas’ Basanti area, a Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) activist and his wife and daughter were assaulted allegedly by Trinamool supporters for trying to put up party flags.

“While I was putting up flags, Trinamool goons warned me, then attacked me. They also entered my house and assaulted my wife and daughter,” alleged Maharuf Sardar of the RSP.

Trinamool leaders rubbished Sardar’s claims, saying the fight was over a property dispute.
