Henry Cavill's Superman Makes DCEU Return In Fan Art

[ad_1]

Recent fan art shows what Henry Cavill’s return to the DC Extended Universe as Superman could look like. Cavill has played the character in three films so far, including his solo film Man of Steel. However, following Justice League, which was poorly received by both critics and fans, Warner Bros. began to consider taking the DCEU in a new direction. This contributed to Ben Affleck’s exit as Batman, a part Robert Pattinson will take over in next year’s The Batman. It also left Cavill’s future in the DCEU hanging in the balance, with some suspecting Justice League would be his final appearance as Superman.

However, fans were given new hope with last month’s news Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as Superman. Reportedly, it won’t come in the form of Man of Steel 2, which is apparently not in development. Rumors suggest this is because Warner Bros. doesn’t believe another Superman movie with Cavill would do well right now. Instead, the actor may cameo in an upcoming DCEU movie, though Superman isn’t currently in the scripts for Black AdamThe Batman, or The Flash, limiting his options. Some are hoping Superman will become the DCEU version of Marvel’s Hulk, who hasn’t starred in a solo movie since 2008, but remains a popular character.

Thanks to recent art by ultraraw26, fans can imagine what Cavill’s return to the DCEU might look like. The image was shared just after the news came out Cavill was in talks to reprise his role. It shows a slightly older looking Superman, with the difference noticeable in his hairline especially. Check it out below:

It’s impossible to know at this point which film Cavill will return in, but some reports have suggested Shazam 2 or Aquaman 2, as Superman already knows both characters. However, those movies aren’t due out until 2022, meaning fans may be in for a long wait. Luckily, Cavill will appear as Superman next year in the Snyder Cut of Justice League on HBO Max. Though the main actors aren’t expected to reshoot scenes, it will likely feature new Superman content fans haven’t seen before.

As fans wait for both the Snyder Cut and official news on Cavill’s return to the DCEU, they can enjoy imaging what Cavill’s Superman could look like if he comes back. The good news about the long break between Superman appearances is it will give fans plenty of time to dream up more Superman art featuring Cavill. Hopefully, they’ll soon know the extent of Cavill’s next turn in the DCEU.
