You can print Google books that are available in the public domain, either in whole or in part. Here’s how to do it.

How to print from Google Books

Before you start your search on your PC or Mac, you might want to adjust your settings to only look for free Google ebooks, which means you’ll only see books which are in the public domain.

Specifically, you can only print any book that displays a “Read” button in the search results. If it says “Preview,” you can only print the summary page. 

1. Open Google Books in a web browser. 

2. Type in the book title you want to print in the search bar. To narrow down the search results to only printable public domain books, click “Any Books” above the search results and click “Free Google eBooks.”

3. Click any book that has a “Read” icon (rather than a “Preview” icon).

4. Click the gear-shaped Settings button at the top right of the screen and, in drop-down menu, click “Download PDF.” The book should open as a PDF in your browser window or in your designated PDF viewer. 

5. Click the PDF viewer’s Print button and then print the desired pages as you would with other documents.
