China's Ban On Its Domestic Ivory Trade Takes Effect


Ivory tusks seized by customs authorities in Hong Kong sit at the head of a news conference in the autonomous Chinese territory last July.

Chinese officials fulfilled a previous pledge banning the domestic sale and processing of ivory within its borders. The ban follows a similar measure implemented by the U.S. in 2016.
