Srinagar, 24 June-2014,(JKD): In Jammu & Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, was again detained when he along with his supporters tried to hold a protest demonstration against the grave human rights violations committed by Indian Army in the territory.

According to Media sources, the party spokesman, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the police action and said that Waza was scheduled to lead a protest rally from his residence to Lal Chowk. He said that police arrested Mukhtar Ahmad Waza from his residence and shifted him to Sherbagh police station. He said that India was systematically violating the human rights of the people of Kashmir who demand right to self-determination.

He said that people of Kashmir had laid down their precious lives for the liberation movement and it was responsibility of the international community to put pressure on India to give Kashmiris their birthright to self-determination. The spokesman also condemned the continued detention of party Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and urged the international human rights watchdogs to take a serious note of rights abuses perpetrated by Indian troops.
