When Uber laid off upwards of 400 marketers on Monday morning, Michael Houck, an Airbnb product manager who spent two years at Uber Eats, Uber’s food-delivery arm, put up a LinkedIn post asking if he could help.

So many people interacted with the post and sent him messages that he decided to create a public Google Docs spreadsheet. More than 250 ex-Uber staffers have since added their names to the spreadsheet and recruiters have posted more than 500 job openings at companies including Airbnb, Adobe, Anheuser-Busch, Google, and Pinterest.
Notable marketing execs have shared the post including Airbnb Experiences’ global head of marketing, Musa Tariq, and Jonathan Mildenhall, Airbnb’s former CMO and cofounder of brand consultancy TwentyFirstCenturyBrand.
“The reason it’s taken off is because on the recruiter side, this is a pool of vetted, quality candidates who have high intent right now and also have some urgency in their search,” Houck said. “And on the talent side, these are world-class marketers, and they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
