Patna, 22 April-2014(IANS): Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who will be honoured with the IIFA award, today said “Modi wave” was sweeping across the country and going by the present trend it would not be surprising if BJP achieved 350 mark in the elections on its own. “BJP initially had thought of mission 272 but seeing the strong Modi wave across the country it will not be surprising if we achieve 350 mark on our own,” Sinha said at an election rally here in favour of party candidate Shahnawaz Hussain.
Shatrughan Singh canvass for BJP leaders before leaving for IIFA
Sinha, who is now canvassing for party leaders after voting in his own Patna Sahib seat on April 17, told people that for creation of a strong country there was need to vote BJP to power with a comfortable majority. Making a scathing attack on UPA, he said its biggest achievement was CWG scam, 2G and now “Jijaji scandal” (referring to the alleged rising earning of Robert Vadra).
Sinha criticised the “pseudo secularists” of creating fear in the minds of muslims for BJP and said BJP leaders like Shahnawaz and himself have big following in Islamic countries like Pakistan and Gulf. He described Shahnawaz Hussain as a very effective Parliamentarian who would serve Bhagalpur properly. Later, he visited Purnea to seek vote for BJP candidate Udai Singh. He has already visited Amritsar, Bhopal and Vidisha to campaign for Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. After hectic campaigning today, Sinha stopped at Patna for a brief period and than proceeded to Lucknow to address election meeting in favour of BJP President Rajnath Singh.
Sinha is making a quick round of constituencies across the country as he has to go to Tampa Bay, Florida in the US to receive the IIFA award later this week. Sinha, popularly known as “Bihari Babu”, has already dedicated the award to people of Patna.
