Palampur, February 3, Somitr Keshav: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Shanta Kumar asked the Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) to merge with BJP instead to joining hands with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). HLP should join hands with BJP to defeat Congress in the general elections in Himachal, he said.

Shanta Kumar said that he requested Maheshwar Singh, who heads the HLP in this regard, would consider his appeal keeping in view the national interest and present political scenario in the country. He also said that if Maheshwar joins BJP, the party high command could think on fielding him from the Mandi parliamentary constituency as a BJP candidate.

BJP high command had directed the state unit for the homecoming of those leaders who were expelled during the last Assembly elections and those willing to come back would be admitted to the party in a phased manner, he said.

Ex-MLAs Rakesh Pathania and Des Raj and another BJP leader Sanjay Guleria were admitted to the party and assured Shanta Kumar that they would work sincerely in the coming Lok Sabha electons.
