New Delhi, February 3, Abhijit Saha: Sachin Rama Chandra Jadav outgoing District Collector received National Award for Koraput on Sunday. Mr. Jadav received the award at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
This award is given for the outstanding implementation of the central job scheme for 2012-13. The award is presented by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). A total of nine districts were selected for the award throughout the country among which Koraput is one of them. The other districts include Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
This award is given under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme as District award for effective initiatives for leadership in Challenging Circumstances. MGNREGA is a scheme of the union Government from Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh.
The newly posted collector of Koraput Yamini Sarangi was also present at the venue to witness the event. Sources said that the decision of inclusion of Koraput district in the list of nine districts to receive award was taken by the Rural Development Ministry after recommendation of Expert Committee constituted for the purpose.
In the beginning the district administration has faced many difficulties while implementing the scheme in a challenging environment of Koraput which is a backward and tribal dominated District said by officials.
Mr Jadav said that in the month of January members of MoRD visited the district to scrutinize implementation of MGNREGA scheme in the district. Based on this survey the district is selected under the category “Leadership in Challenging Circumstances” for this award.
