Madras High Court advocate shot dead near Mamallapuram

Chennai: Advocate Kamesh Srinivasan (32), who was found near Mamallapuram with bullet wounds, died on Monday.

Kamesh who was conscious post getting shot, called his friend Selvam who took him to a hospital. However, he succumbed to the injury.

According to reports, another friend who was with Kamesh, Eswaran, is absconding.

Kamesh, who lived in Besant Nagar in Chennai, was practising in the Madras High Court. Police have stated that Kamesh had gone to Pondicherry with Eswaran and were on their way back to the city.

Apparently, their car hit a median on the road and a fight ensued between the two.

The police have not yet determined whether Eswaran, who owns the gun, shot at Kamesh deliberately or the pistol went off accidentally.

It was reported that both the friends had been drinking at the time of the accident. Eswaran, who is reported to be involved in illegal activities, was known to Kamesh as he represented him in numerous bail pleas.

The matter is being investigated and police are on the look-out for Eswaran.
