Salman attacked for being a celeb, not Muslim: Salim Khan

Earlier, it was Salim Khan’s clarification on his son Salman Khan’s tweets on Yakub Memon’s hanging that kept him in the news. And, now he has given an interview to NDTV, in which he said that Salman was targeted not because he was a Muslim, but because of his celebrity-hood.

Salim Khan said to the news channel: “Salman is a star, a celebrity. That’s why the protests. Not because he is a Muslim. Moreover, in this particular case, BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar had personal vendetta against Salman.”

Salman Khan was attacked after he said that the government shouldn’t hang Yakub.

I had tweeted that Tiger Memon should hang for his crimes and I stand by it. What i also said is that Yakub Memon should not hang for him.

Salim further said about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the same interview: “I can say Narendra Modi is not communal as I know him. After meeting a person several times, one gets an idea of his thinking and ideology. I am 79. If I cannot understand this, then I must be a fool.”
