Maoists abduct four cops in Bastar

Bastar(PTI): Four auxiliary constables of Chhattisgarh police were abducted by Maoists in Bastar on Monday evening.

The incident took place in Bijapur district of Bastar at around 6 pm on Monday when the Maoists stopped a passenger bus on Sakanpalli- Kutaru road and abducted two policemen travelling in it.

A few minutes after the incident, the rebels stopped two other cops, who were going towards Kutaru village on a motorcycle at the same location and abducted them.

The CRPF Deputy Inspector-General, Dantewada range, Dinesh Pratap Upadhyay confirmed the incident.

The abducted policemen have been identified as Jaydev Yadav, Mangal Sodhi, Raju Tela and Rama Majji.

Mr. Yadav, Mr. Sodhi and Mr. Tela were posted in Kutaru police station and Mr. Majji was posted in Bedre police camp of Bijapur.

“It’s clear that either the bus drivers are informing the Naxals or the Naxals are keeping a watch at our camps and when our troops get in (the buses) they come to know of it,” said Mr. Upadhyay.

The ultras have reportedly taken the abducted cops towards Addampalli village.
