Suniel Shetty and Raveena Tandon’s stuck film revived

Years back, Raveena Tandon’s Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke [2004] had released without much fanfare after being stuck for a decade. Despite the presence of Shah rukh Khan in it, the film looked as dated as one can imagine and turned out to be a huge commercial and critical disaster. Now, the ‘mast mast’ girl, who was recently seen in a cameo in Bombay Velvet, would be seen (albeit fleetingly) in another stuck project of hers which is finally making it to theaters. Titled ‘2 Chehare’, it is clearly a product of the 90s which has apparently been made over a period of 15-20 years.

“The film has Suniel Shetty in the lead and belongs to the era when the ‘Balwaan’ star was making action films by the dozen. That was the time when the couple had come together for films like Mohra and Dilwale. In fact, Raveena had also made a special song and dance appearance for Rakshak with chartbuster track ‘Shehar Ki Ladki’. This is when she signed up for ‘2 Chehare’ too,” informs our source.

Directed by Ashok Gaikwad, whose last major release was Ajay Devgn starrer Gair [1999], the film took ages in the making. What started as a film with Suniel Shetty and Shatrughan Sinha [seen in his Bihari babu avtar from Khudgarz] went through multiple changes in its cast and actors like Krishna Abhishek and Saahil Khan were roped in as well.

“It is a twisted 90s potboiler about change in identity through plastic surgery and the revenge drama that follows,” the source adds, “A promo is available online and that features Krishna Abhishek in a double role, with Suniel Shetty primarily doing all the action in his mustached avtar.”

In the middle of this all, Raveena ends up appearing in only a hardcore 90s Bollywood song, hence being rightly billed as a special appearance. Meanwhile, in the list of all the new additions, there is Nigar Khan who ends up making an appearance as well.

“At one point in time, the film was shelved. Now it has been revived and one has to see if the final cut turns out to be a coherent affair with so many changes made to it over the years,” a trade insider adds, “Clearly, no one is talking about it as yet, as the release has been sudden.”

No wonder, the film is hitting the screens this Friday and though one waits to see how much of Suniel Shetty and Shatrughan Sinha are seen in the film, for now it is their face which is most prominent in the First Look poster. As for Raveena, she would be happy to be in oblivion here.
