Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil wants Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Khadse to quit

Mumbai,Shailendra Paranjpe(dna): Demanding resignation of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and excise minister Eknath Khadse for the Malvani hooch tragedy, leader of Opposition in the state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Monday said that Fadnavis was insensitive to these deaths.

Vikhe-Patil visited the family members of victims and criticised the government for inaction on its part. Speaking to media, he said that Fadnavis made it a point to visit the disaster management control room in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation but despite the fact that nearly hundred persons have lost their lives, he does not have the time to visit their family members.

The opposition leader said that Khadse visited a handful of families and announced compensation of Rs1 lakh to each of them. However, the tragedy has occurred due to the inaction on his part. He demanded that the government should be charged with murder of these persons and Fadnavis as well as Khadse should resign. He said that this incident was a testimony of the fact that this government did not bother for the lives of the poor and downtrodden.

Vikhe-Patil also said that the police department has started a series of raids in Mumbai after this incident, but had it been done as a preventive measure, hundred of lives could have been saved.

He said that since the government is not reaching out to the families of the victims, his party would lend support to them.
