Muslim community urges young motorcyclists not to speed during Shab-e-Baraat

New Delhi(web team): Members of the Muslim community along with police on Monday urged youth to desist from any activity, such as speeding on motorcycles, that could cause them harm on the night of Shab-e-Baraat. The Shab-e-Baraat falls on Tuesday. Considered one of the most important days in Islam, it is an occasion for people to seek forgiveness. It is also the time when prophet Mohammed reached Mecca.

“We request the devotees visiting the Kabrasthan and Dargah that it is the special night of seeking forgiveness and repenting to Almighty Allah, remembering our past sins and sincerely vowing that one will never commit sins in the future. We request all the devotees not to create any nuisance and avoid motorcycles, to maintain law and order and cooperate with the volunteers of Mahim Dargah, Haji Ali Dargah and the police,” said Sohail Khandwani, trustee of the Mahim Dargah.

On Monday, the trustees of Haji Ali and Mahim Dargah along with Mumbai police put in place a series of measures related to parking and security provisions. At Mahim Dargah, over 200 volunteers, security personnel and CCTV surveillance cameras and ambulances will be stationed. Parking provision will be made at Reti Bunder (Mahim Slope) for cars and motorcycles.

There will be no parking on Cadell Road, L.J Road, L.J Cross Road , MMC Road and Balamiya Lane. Cadell Road will be closed from 8 pm to 6 am from Hari Om junction (Hinduja Hospital).

At Haji Ali Dargah, life guards and CCTV surveillance will be in place. Parking facility will be made at Race Course. Special BEST buses will be operated at night from Dadar to Haji Ali, Mahalaxmi to Haji Ali and Mumbai Central to Haji Ali.

Special trains will also be operated. The Churchgate-Virar 2.10 am will be reaching Mahim at 2.28 am. The Virar-Churchgate 1.15 am will be reaching Mahim at 2.26 am. To maintain law and order, naka bandis will be arranged by Mumbai police all over the city to take action against motorcyclists and those found misbehaving.
