Former PM Manmohan Singh responds, says I have not used public office to enrich myself, family

New Delhi(DNA): Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday attacked NDA government and said that he has not used public office to enrich himself.

Singh’s remarks come a day after former TRAI Chairman Pradip Baijal alleged that the former Prime Minister had warned him of harm if he did not cooperate on 2G telecom licenses.

Speaking at a two-day convention of Congress students’ wing NSUI, Singh said, “I have not used my public office to enrich myself, enrich my family, or to enrich my friends. Still, BJP harps on corruption to divert people’s attention to non-issues.”

Mounting attack on Modi government, Singh said, “We had launched many new programmes, schemes, we had put in place many new policies. This had led to profound social transformation and unprecedented economic growth as well. Now, many of our programmes are now being repackaged and marketed as initiatives of Modi Government.”

Talk of policy paralysis is untrue, when our government left, India was the second fastest growing economy. When we left office in 2014, in the past 10 years our economy grew at an average annual rate of 8.5% When we left office in 2014. This is an all time record.”
