Death of TMC councillor causes fresh clashes in Howrah

KOLKATA(24 Ghanta): Fresh political clashes erupted in Shalimar, Howrah on Friday, following the death of Trinamool Congress councillor Binay Singh’s brother, Vinod Singh.

Soon after news of Vinod’s death surfaced, massive political clashes were reported in the area and associates of Binay allegedly set Trinamool Congress leader Pradeep Tiwari’s house on fire. Moreover, his house was also ransacked and his godown set on fire. Three trucks in the godown were reduced to ashes.

Later, police rushed to the spot and took control of the situation.

On April 6, amidst the TMC’s factional feud at the Shalimar railway yard, one faction opened fire and Vinod and his nephew Rajesh Singh sustained serious injuries. While Vinod was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, he was later shifted to a hospital in Howrah, where he succumbed to his injuries.
