National Voters’ Day to be celebrated on January 25

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday will celebrate the fifth National Voters’ Day, on the theme ‘Easy Registration, Easy Correction’.

According to reports, former president APJ Abdul Kalam will preside over the occasion, which will be held in the national capital. Awards for best electoral practices will be given to Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers.

Media houses and civil society organisations will reportedly also be honoured for their best campaign in Voters’ Education and Awareness.

The National Voter’s Day aims to spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process. The objective of the programme is also to increase enrolment of voters.
