Deadlock in Rajya Sabha continues; Opposition demands PM’s statement on conversion

New Delhi(PTI): Deadlock in Rajya Sabha continued for the fifth day today as opposition kept demanding reply by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a debate on religious conversions which the government has been steadfastly rejected.

On Thursday, though the Prime Minister was present in the House during the Question Hour, the proceedings were consumed by arguments between the opposition and treasury benches over procedures of a debate on the communal incidents in the country.

The government, however, is preparing its Plan B. Within the government there is a talk about continuing the reform process through Ordinance route. The significant Bills that are pending as of now apart from insurance are Goods and Services Tax, and Coal mines (Special Provisions Bill).
