Five major companies submit RFQs for Vizhinjam project

Thiruvananthapuram, 11 March, Sreeparvathy K.: Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited(VISL) has received Requests for Qualification(RFQ) from five major ports operator companies raising the enthusiasm for the project.

The global tender was called for engineering, procurement and construction works of the Vizhinjam port. Five major companies that submitted RFQs are Gammon Infrastructure Projects Limited, consortium of  Hyundai-Concast Infrastructure Limited, Essar Ports Limited, Adani Ports and SREI and OHL consortium. An empowered committee under Chief Secretary will scrutinize the RFQs and companies for the next phase will be selected.

Last date for submitting responses to the tender for port superstructure and operating the port ended yesterday and the responses for the tender for procurement and construction works will be accepted till June 30. VISL stated that it want the same company to undertake works under RFL tender and procurement and construction works to avoid conflicts.

The five companies submitted RFQ by paying Rs 4 lakh. The consultant agency Ernest and Young is authorized to scrutinize the RFQ given by 5 consortia. Companies will have to pay Rs.8 lakh for RFP.
