Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was at a book launch when jawans were being killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar drew flak on Friday for attending a literature festival in Goa to release a book by a noted journalist, while the militants on Friday struck in a big way in Jammu and Kashmir.

Storming an Army camp in Uri in Baramulla district, militants killied 13 civilians, 6 soldiers and 3 cops including a Lt Col.

However, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was attending the launch of Rajdeep Sardesai’s book soon after an attack in the valley.

A move by Parrikar has led to severe outrage on twitter criticising him and the Narendra Modi government.

Last year, in October, the BJP had severly criticised Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for attending a Bollywood music launch function soon after the serial blasts in Patna and alleged that he was not serious enough on the issue of national security.
