Bindyarani murder case suspected accused arrested in Manipur

Imphal,Manipur: Thoubal Police, Monday, arrested Sureshkumar, the prime suspect in the Bidyarani murder case, from Sugnu area at around 11 am. The victim Thiyam Bindyarani (18), a class XII student was found dead inside the house of Sureshkumar, her cousin brother, at Wangbal Heirithong Leikai on Sunday evening.

Police source said that Thoubal Police initiated search operation right after they got the information. On Monday morning, police got information of Sureshkumar hiding at Sugnu area and Thoubal Police led by SDPO in charge, Additional SP Modhunimai conducted massive search operation at different places of Sugnu, and subsequently rouded up the prime suspect. He has been detained at Thoubal Police Station for investigation.

Meanwhile, family members have refused to claim the body of Bindyarani though post mortem examination was conducted at JNIMS mortuary on Monday.

Mention may be made that locals of Wangbal Heirithong Leikai rose against the murder and dismantled the house of Sureshkumar at around 7.30 pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a public meeting in connection with the rape and killing of Th Bidyarani was held at Wangbal Tomal Makhong community Hall this morning wherein various resolutions were adopted. Soon after the meeting the irate mob immediate blocked NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh road) at Wangbal area.

Bandh supporters vandalised various vehicles coming from Moreh to Imphal including a Maruti Van (MN04 A 6383), Alto 800(MN01X 9991), a Maruti Car, a 407 Mini Tata Truck. Even though a huge number of police personnel arrived at the spot and asked the bandh supporters to call of the agitation as the culprit has been arrested, the bandh supporters continue to block the road till late in the evening.
