The SC of India grants bail to Jayalalithaa

New Delhi, Oct 17 – The Supreme Court Friday granted bail to former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, convicted of possessing assests disproportionate to her known sources of income.

Alongwith Jayalalithaa, her aide Sasikala and two others have also been granted bail. AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa was on Friday granted bail by the Supreme Court in the disproportionate assets case. Jayalalithaa’s party workers had been waiting with bated breath as the Supreme court took up the bail plea of the former Tamil Nadu chief minister, who is lodged in Bangalore jail.
Jayalalithaa was given the relief after she assured the Supreme Court that she won’t take any adjournment in the Karnataka High Court and would file paperbook of her appeal within two months.

“We will not give you a day more if you fail to file paperbook within 2 months,” said the Supreme Court.

ayalalithaa volunteered before the top court to be kept in confinement in house for 2-3 months while pressing for bail.
The court further asked Jayalalithaa to direct her party workers not to create law and order problem in the state.

Jayalalithaa has been granted the bail on the foundation day of AIADMK.

Jayalalithaa had moved the Supreme Court after the Karnataka High Court refused her bail plea saying corruption is like human rights violation.
The Karnataka high court had on September 27 held Jayalalithaa guilty of corruption and amassing wealth inappropriate to her known source of income.
