FIREFLY's First Ever Comic Book Event to Happen This Year with BLUE SUN RISING

BOOM! Studios is getting ready to give Browncoats a treat. If you’re a fan of Firefly, you’ll want to hold onto your pretty floral bonnets as we get the news of the first ever Firefly comic event: Firefly: Blue Sun Rising. This event is written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Dan McDaid with Joss Whedon serving as a story consultant. It’s time Mal dealt with the Blue Sun Corporation.

Sheriff Mal Reynolds has a new partner—a law-enforcing robot from the Blue Sun corporation, who doesn’t care about motives, mercy, or anything other than enforcing the law—no matter the cost. The Blue Sun Corporation has helped to run the ‘Verse from the shadows for years, but they’re ready to step into the light and take over.

If Mal wants to keep his job and protect his sector, he probably should play by their rulebook. That leaves only one choice for Mal —reunite the crew of the Serenity for one last impossible job to save the ‘Verse.

Blue Sun Rising #0 will feature a main cover by Nimit Malavia and variant covers by Christian Ward, Caitlin Yarsky, and more. Firefly #20 will serve as a prelude to the event and both will release in September. The story will then continue in Firefly #21-24 before concluding in Blue Sun Rising #1. I’m honestly not sure why they’re doing it this way instead of doing Blue Sun Rising #0-5 or 1-6, but it is what it is. All physical copies will be available from local comic shops while digital copies will be available through comiXology, Google Play, iBooks, and Madefire.
