The event, held at Anaheim’s Convention Center in late summer, has been a major gathering for fans since its initial event in Denver in 1999 to celebrate the then-upcoming release of Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. Subsequent events were held to celebrate the releases of upcoming films or anniversaries of past projects, as well as first-time celebrations outside of the United States with 2007’s Celebration Europe in London and Celebration Japan in 2008.

Last year’s event was the biggest event for the franchise yet as they celebrated the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the conclusion to the sequel trilogy and The Skywalker Legacy, as well as promoting EA’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Disney+’s The Mandalorian.

Though this year’s event was cancelled, the company behind the event has announced that the next celebration will be held in the Anaheim Convention Center from August 18-21, 2022. Fans who bought tickets this year, are being offered multiple options for what to do with their tickets, including getting a refund, transferring over to the next celebration or receiving a credit for Star Wars Celebration merchandise. Any pre-ordered merchandise will still be sent to fans, but those who no longer want to wait are able to receive a refund.

The ticket refund period is set to open on June 22 and end on August 26.
