Patrick Wilson, Halle Berry, and Josh Gad Set for Director Roland Emmerich's MOONFALL

Patrick Wilson is set to star in director Roland Emmerich’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller Moonfall. He will star alongside Halle Berry and Josh Gad in the film. Wilson and Emmerich previously worked together on the WWII film Midway. Charlie Plummer, who appeared in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, has also joined the project.

Emmerich is also co-writing the film with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen (Extinction). The story for the film is set in motion “when the moon is knocked from its orbit by a mysterious force and set on a collision course with Earth. With just weeks to go before impact, a ragtag team is sent on a seemingly impossible mission to land on the lunar surface and save humanity.”

Wilson will take on the role of a “disgraced former NASA astronaut whose last mission, which ended in tragedy, holds a clue about the impending catastrophe. Plummer will play his teenage son.”

Berry is playing “a former colleague of Wilson’s character,” while Gad is an “eccentric genius who deduces that the moon has fallen out of its orbit.”

As I’ve said before, this is very similar to the plot of Michael Bay’s Armageddon. Regardless, there’s an audience out there that enjoys the films Emmerich makes. Hopefully, this one will make them happy.

Lionsgate is looking to release the film at some point in 2021.
