Larry David claims he told Jets GM to draft Lamar Jackson in 2018

The New York Jets would be in prettyyy, prettyyyyy, pretty good shape if Larry David called the shots in their 2018 draft.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Seinfeld co-creator appeared on The Michael Kay Show on Tuesday, and claimed that he told then-Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan to draft Lamar Jackson in 2018.

“I did call Mike Maccagnan before the 2018 draft, and I recommended that he draft Lamar Jackson. I have a witness.”

David said that Maccagnan gave him a condescending response.

“He kinda gave me the most condescending… He laughed at me.”

Here’s the full interview:

The Jets had the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and chose quarterback Sam Darnold. Jackson fell to the Baltimore Ravens with the 32nd pick, and he’s a lock to win the NFL MVP in his second NFL season. Maccagnan was fired by the Jets in May of 2019, after becoming the general manager in 2015.

In the past, David has vocalized frustration that the Jets can’t even tank properly, and said that he’s “positive [he] could be an offensive coordinator” for the Jets. Maybe they should start listening to him.
