New Delhi, 20 July- 2014(Indilens Web Team): Five people have been arrested in the capital Delhi with 43 illegal pistols, Delhi police said Sunday.

Dinesh Gawane and Khilafat are reported from Madhya Pradesh as they were arrested July 12 from Anand Vihar area here, while Devendra and Dharmendra from Uttar Pradesh were arrested July 18 from Dhaula Kuan area in Delhi. A total of 30 pistols have been recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, they told police that the weapons were being smuggled from Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone, Barwani and Khandwa areas to Delhi to create tension in Independence march in August 15.

They also said that another peddler, Arun who was reached Delhi with illegal firearms July 19 and he was arrested from Sarai Kale Khan area as Police have recovered 13 pistols from Arun.

Senior police official says, ” We are on strict vigil on illegal arms and detecting culprits with roots very soon”. [Input from IANS]
