You can easily adjust the brightness of your iPad screen — manually or automatically.

To better see your messages, photos, and other apps, you can manually adjust the brightness level at any time in the Control Center.

The Control Center is accessible from any screen by swiping down in the top right-hand corner on iPads running iPadOS 12 or later (or by swiping up from the bottom of the screen on older iPads), and it offers shortcuts to adjust the volume, enable Do Not Disturb mode, and more.

You can also enable auto-brightness in the Settings app; this feature will adjust your screen’s visibility without you ever having to think about it.

This section of Settings is also where you’ll find options such as turning on automatic night shift, a feature that makes it easier to read from your Apple device at night.
