Hunter Pence hits hilarious inside-the-park homer at Fenway Park

Hunter Pence appeared to be on the decline in recent years, but the 36-year-old has looked like his three-time All-Star self with the Texas Rangers in 2019. Pence entered play on Tuesday night with a .902 OPS, and gave his numbers a boost with a two-run homer in a 9-5 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

But this was a very, very unusual homer. It almost was a traditional dinger in the area of Pesky’s Pole down the right field line, but the ball hit off the wall after Brock Holt whiffed on it while trying to climb the tiny wall. And then the ball rolled to the wall in right-center field, near nobody. By the time center fielder Mookie Betts ran over to touch the ball, Pence had already scored.

That’s about as “easy” as inside-the-park homers get.
