Colts dominate Texans 21-7, will face the Chiefs next Saturday

The Houston Texans may have won the AFC South but the Indianapolis Colts sure didn’t care. They gladly took the six seed, traveled to Houston and dominated the Texans 21-7 in the first Wild Card game of the 2018 NFL season. The Colts go to Kansas City to face the top seed Chiefs while the winner of tomorrow’s Chargers-Ravens game will face the Patriots.

The margin of victory may not show as much of a blowout but despite just winning by 14, the Colts were in control for the entire game.

Andrew Luck was slinging the ball all game long and started things off with a 38 yard bomb to T.Y. Hilton, setting up an Eric Ebron touchdown.

After a Texans’ three and out, the Colts marched back down the field. Marlon Mack got the Colts down the field during this drive with a 25 yard run to start things off and then capping it off with a touchdown all before the end of the first quarter.

After both teams traded interceptions, Luck got his second TD of the day, throwing to Dontrelle Inman and having a 21-0 lead going into halftime.

After that, it was about Indianapolis protecting their big lead and they were effective. The Texans scored early in the fourth quarter and that might have sparked a flicker of a comeback but the Colts took care of that.

After starting the season 1-5, the Colts became the third team to make the playoffs with that low of a record after six games. After that 1-5 stretch, Indianapolis went 9-1 and despite a 6-0 shutout to the Jaguars, the Colts were flawless. Even though the Chiefs are the top seed at 12-4, they have lost two of their last three. The Colts may be the six seed but they may give KC a test.
