Farmers need not be worried on Kasturi Rangan report: Chief Minister

Kottayam, 6 March, Sreeparvathy K.: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy announced that all the restrictions imposed on the Ecologically Sensitive Areas were removed after the release of Office Memorandum.

He also assured the farmers that they need not be worried and their homes are not in the Ecologically Sensitive Area. Chief Minister stated that the demands of High Range Samara Samithi have been kept. He was talking to the media persons in Kottayam.

Chief Minister added that the Central Government had treated the expert committee report Oommem V Oommen as the Kasturi Rangan report. “I too had some doubts about Office Memorandum which were cleared after discussing with concerned officials. The doubts of the striking people will also be clarified,” he said.

Chief Minister said that the government had faced a crisis on the Kasturi Rangan report, but the crisis is now over. The Government had done all possible measures and the Central Government considered all its efforts. Chief Minister also added that the people of Kerala will conserve the forests and protect the environment with the participation of people.
