Maths is full of logical ideas and intellectual thinking. Mathematics comprises of numbers, facts, proofs, theorems and their relation. Few students seem to love maths, while the other few consider it a nightmare. Even though the subject is frightening at times, when learned the correct way, it could be fun and easy. Here are few interesting facts about mathematics:
(i) The only number that cannot be represented in Roman numeral form is Zero (0).
(ii) The only prime numbers ending with 2 and 5 are the number itself.
(iii) The circle has the largest area amongst all the shapes having the same perimeter of the figures.
(iv) “One” (1) is the only number that can be written perfectly in a reversed-alphabetical order, while “forty” (40) is the only number that can be written in an alphabetical order.
(v) The sum of numbers of opposite side of a die always adds up to 7.
(vi) A number resulting by adding up the two numbers before it, starting from one(1) forms a Fibonacci Series, which is: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,…. and so on. The spiral shape of a sunflower follows a Fibonacci Series.
(vii) A palindrome is a number that reads the same from backward as well as forward. Ex: 4567654. Multiplying multiples of 11 with a number itself always form a palindrome.

(viii) The word “FRACTION” is derived from the Latin word “Fractio- that means to break.”
