2 women labourers buried alive in Odisha

Rayagada, 23 June-2014, Badal Tah: Two women labourers of Musulipadara village under Laxmipur block named Lashi Majhi and Suka Majhi died on spot while they were taking rest after loading sand from Kutinga Nallah under Tikiri police station in the tipper.

There is lot of unauthorised sand mining from the river bedwithout having any safety measures. The labourers, who are mostly tribals, commute on the loaded tractors and tippers for their daily living. Both there venue and the transport authorities, who are in tandem with the local contractors, violate basic norms for which many such incidents are inevitable.

The Tiikiri police reached the spot for investigation. Till the report was written, no assistance was declared by the district administration.
