Autopsy, conducted on the elephant’s body, revealed that it died due to sunstroke. Notably, two elephants have died due to sunstroke in last seven days here. However, no remarkable step has been taken by the Forest Department to avoid further death of pachyderms.

Athagarh ACF Nibedita Das, Forest Ranger Uttam Gadnayak and Deputy Veterinary Officer Jitebdra Kumar Patra conducted the autopsy and recovered two teeth measuring 30 cm-long each.
