You might think soccer is the next big thing in North America with the MLS on the rise, but don’t rule out the National Yo-Yo League before you go picking the hottest up-and-coming sport.
Here we’ve got a clip of yo-yo master Evan Nagao, who started training when he was just seven, but recently became the American champ at the National Yo-Yo Contest.
I’m not sure how the moves get graded or scored, but in terms of an outsider’s perspective, this dude is, in fact, a yo-yo God. Take a look at his performance (routine? I’m not sure what they call these), and you’ll undoubtedly agree:
It shouldn’t surprise you that Evan spends three hours per day working on his chops. Whether it’s yoyo-ing, bartending, or…whatever, to be the best in the world, you need to stay sharp, and Evan’s proven he can do that at an insanely young age. He travels the world competing and does so with a flair that others just don’t have.
I mean, have you ever seen someone yo-yo to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird?”
Now you have.
