The Industrial Internet of Things, or commonly referred to as IIOT, is basically the application of IOT in manufacturing companies. Bit, when it comes to large scale products, like, smartphones, vehicles, laptops etc., defects in any stage of the production cycle can be a big problem. A single defect may cause the company to lose thousands of millions of dollars. Therefore, one of the very important question that the IIOT needed to address in its initial days were, how can it affect the quality control in the industry. The answer was in connected machines and devices. Connected devices in the industry helps to keep real time information stored in the database, which helps the plant manager, or the company manager to track the discrepancy. The faults can be traced back to the root cause, using these data’s, and hence, defects can easily be repaired.

Another huge advantage of IIOT in the manufacturing industry is the optimization of the Inventory. In large scale production houses, thousands of products are being made every day, and therefore, the ordering, storing and then tracking of those products become very important. If an inventory has not got a specific item, it just goes on to mean that the company is losing on revenue, while having more of a product means it is wasting shelf space.
