Authorities of Odisha rescued 32 child labourers from Karnataka

Bhubanewar, 30 May-2014: Odisha Women and child development (WCD) officials recently rescues 32 child labourers from Karnataka. Of the 32 minors rescued, 18 are from Gajapati district, while 10 are from Kandhamal and 2 are from Sambalpur district.

The officials stated that though the 32 children including 10 girls of Odisha were taken to Karnataka for providing them education, but they were spotted in unhygienic conditions. The issue came to the fore after the family members of some children appealed officials to rescue their children. Soon the issue was taken up with Karnataka government, and a team of police officials as well as WCD staff rescued the minors, sources further said.
