Mangaldoi, Feb 28, Jasmine Ahmed: A senior police official including three persons were injured when a group of people affirmed against a village defense group assailing stones on police which free fire to annihilate the mob in Assam’s Darrang district. Police said that the mob, irate by the defeat up of four persons by a village defense group suspecting them to be herd thieves last night, assail stones today injuring Border Deputy Superintendent of Police Deba Ranjan Sarma at Rajghat down in the district. They also said that the mob flawed cars and burnt tyres on the roads. After a lathi charge break down to control the situation and then the police fired, injuring two persons. The police allege that soft bullets were fired. They added that other the two injured Moinur Ali and Nizamur Ali were referred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
