Legendary actor Martin Landau has passed away, according to a report from TMZ. He was best known for films like Cleopatra, Ed Wood, North by Northwest, and Mission: Impossible.

Landau died on Saturday afternoon at UCLA Medical Center after a short stint in the hospital, the site claims. He was 89.

Landau was a highly decorated actor with three Golden Globe Awards and one Oscar to his name. Throughout his decades-long career, he worked with such icons as Tim Burton, Woody Allen, and Alfred Hitchcock to bring stories to life.

As The Hollywood Reporter writes, he famously turned down the role of Mr. Spock in NBC’s Star Trek, called James Dean a friend, and briefly dated Marilyn Monroe in the ’50s.
