Adult Henry + revamped Cinderella = Your new OTP
Well, it looks like Once Upon a Time is ready to reinvent another classic tale. At the D23 Expo, showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed that one of the latest additions to the fantasy series, Dania Ramirez, would be tackling the role of Cinderella. Ramirez will play the iconic Disney heroine in Season 7, and she will also be Adult Henry’s (Andrew J. West) wife and baby mama!
Some of you might be confused since Jessy Schram already portrayed Cinderella on Once Upon a Time, but there’s a perfectly logical explanation for the new storyline. “Henry’s the author of the first book, but he wants to go to the place where the happy ending isn’t written,” Kitsis explained.
When Henry ventures to new places, he also writes new books. This narrative leap allows the audience to see different iterations of characters who have already been introduced on Once Upon a Time.
“What’s interesting to us is that these books tell the stories, a lot of them about these classic characters, and as you know for the first six seasons we did twists and turns on them,” revealed Kitsis. “New books could have different versions of some stories and ways of looking at them that maybe we’ve seen before, maybe some new characters as well.”
The Season 7 premiere will start off in present-day Seattle and will be sprinkled with flashbacks to the Enchanted Forest. Although Storybook will be featured throughout the season, this new journey is more bout Adult Henry leaving home to find his own story. Sounds like Once Upon a Time is finally heading in a new and interesting direction!
