Security Tightened For Shivaratri Around Lingaraj Temple In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27, Abhijit Saha: Security has been tightened in and around the Lingaraj temple of Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri to enable the devotees to celebrate the festival peacefully. Total 25 platoons of police will be deployed there. Rather than his 14 CCTV cameras will also be installed for keeping vigilance at the crown and for avoiding any untoward incident said the police commissioner Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma.

Dr. Prasad said that barricades have been setup to ensure orderly queues for darshan of the deity. He also said that they will ensure no untoward incident take place. Vehicular traffic will also be taken care of.

The temple administration along with the servitors have finalized the time table of the rituals to be performed on Maha Shivaratri said Abani Patnik the Chief Executive of temple administration. Provisions for mobile toilets and drinking water facilities have also been made by the administration. He said the temple will open at 3 AM and the first aarati will be at 3:30 AM. For the devotees the temple will remain open from 4 AM to 11 AM tomorrow during Shahanmela. Patnaik also said that the Mahadeep will be taken atop the temple at 10 PM.

Mayor Ananta Raj Jena said that a large number of people would be deployed round the clock to take care of sanitation. All the streetlights near the temple were also repaired by the Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation.
