Sprinter Dutee Chand Grabbed Gold Medal In Women’s 100 Meter Dash

Chennai, 10 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: Dutee Chand, a promising young sprinter of Odisha has set a national junior record on yesterday. She has won a gold medal in the women’s 100 meter dash on the opening day of 12th Federation Cup National Junior Athletics Championships.

Sprinter Dutee Chand Grabbed Gold Medal In Women’s 100 Meter Dash

Sprinter Dutee, has timed an exceptional 11.63 seconds to grasp the gold medal by removing the previous national record of 11.75 seconds registered in the year 1996 by Saraswati Dey with a vast margin.

With this record breaking achievement, she has also qualified for the World Junior Athletics Championships 2014 that would be held at Eugene in United States.

She has also achieved a bronze medal in the 200 meters dash in the Senior Asian Championships held at Pune last year. So it is quite usual to expect a good performance from her in the forthcoming Asian Junior Championships which would be held at Taipei next month.
