Bhubaneswar, 6 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: The energy department of the government of Odisha has decided to go for regular inspection of all star rated hotels, shopping centres and other public utility structures in the state to check the safety precautionary measures for prevention of electrical danger.

The government has taken this decision knowing the fact that star lodgings and shopping centres of the state are not holding to the compulsory safety norms which resulted in incessant electrical mishaps.

The energy secretary P K Jena has said that major and minor mishaps are happening regularly in the state in the absence of safety measures in electrical installations, risking human life and property. To prevent such mishaps, it has been chosen to make routine inspection of all star rated hotels, shopping centres and other public utility structures and to check the safety measures provided for avoiding electrical dangers to save human life and property.

He additionally said that suitable training would be given to the electrical personnel before they go for investigation of structures under their jurisdiction.

He additionally administered authorities to set up a merged report in this respect.

It is to be noted that fire had inundated after a short circuit in a shoe outlet in Pal Heights Shopping Mall here on 5th November last year bringing on harm to the shopping centre.
