Kashmir: Armed men snatch five rifles from TV tower security guards in Anantnag

Toufiq Rashid,Srinagar: Suspected militants fled with at least five guns taken from security men guarding a TV

tower in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a police spokesman said on Monday.
The armed men barged into the guardroom of the tower in Dalvash area of the southern district late on Sunday night. They overpowered the security and snatched the weapons before fleeing.
“Senior officers from police reached the spot to assess the situation,” sources said, adding that an alert has been sounded and all the entry and exit points leading to Dooru village were sealed.
Massive searches were launched to locate the gunmen and the weapons.
“A hunt has been launched to nab the suspected rebels,” sources added.
The men snatched one Insas and carbine rifle each, and three self-loading rifles. The tower police guards were taken into custody.
