One jawan martyred, eight injured in terrorist attack near Srinagar

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) patrol party was attacked, wherein seven jawans were injured, while the firing is underway. Speaking to ANI, IG SSB Deepak Kumar had earlier said, “SSB jawans injured in terrorists attack near CRPF camp in Zakura, while they were returning from duty.”.

“Jawans retaliated but couldn’t fire aggressively given the civilian population. One jawan lost his life, while eight others are injured,” he said. “Of the eight SSB jawans injured, 3-4 are critically injured. Search operation is now underway,” Kumar added.

Terrorists attacked one of the vehicles of the patrol when three companies were returning in six vehicles at around 7.30 PM.

According to media reports, this is the sixth attack in 27 days. Situation between India-Pakistan have been tense following the surgical strike carried out by India in PoK. On September 18, 19 soldiers were killed in an attack in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir by militants.
