Chief secy reviews Gurgaon’s preps for golden jubilee event

directed the district administration to beautify Gurgaon ahead of the inaugural function of Haryana Golden Jubilee celebrations on November 1.
Haryana chief secretary DS Dhesi was in Gurgaon on Wednesday to review the preparations.
The government is studying the seating plans of the Commonwealth Games and the International fleet review at Visakhapatnam. The plans would be replicated at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the inaugural function of celebrations to commemorate 50 years of Haryana formation on November 1, chief secretary Dhesi said.
As part of the efforts to beautify the city, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has procured four sweeping machines that would sweep 40 kilometres of road every day. Besides, more manpower will be deployed for improving the cleanliness of the city. However, the process is likely to be confined to the main roads and only till November 1.
Dhesi said lack of cleanliness at the event venue would not be tolerated. He also asked officers concerned to ensure firefighting arrangements and smooth traffic near the stadium on the day. He said steps would be taken for the beautification of the entire stretch from Delhi border to the event venue and buildings along the way would also be decorated with theme lighting. A similar beautification plan was undertaken during the Happening Haryana summit too.
MCG commissioner TL Satyaprakash said the corporation has 10 fire brigades and if needed more fire tenders would be called in from neighbouring districts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 50 new schemes and also inaugurate 50 completed projects during the function.
A light and sound show and a water laser show will be used to highlight the glorious past of the state from the Mahabharta era, Dhesi said. He said the event would highlight the state’s growth story of the last 50 years, contribution of people during the first war of independence in 1857, battles of Panipat, achievements in sports, bravery exhibited by soldiers and achievements in the sphere of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
Historians are being contacted to gather more information about the history of the state so that it could be included in the presentation at the function. A short film on ‘Digital Haryana’ and achievements of the state would also be presented, he said.
Dhesi directed officials to complete preparations for the celebrations in a timebound manner. He said since this month has festivals such as Diwali and Vishwakarma Day, officers should complete preparations by October 25. Divisional commissioner D Suresh was given the responsibility to review progress of preparations and send a report to the chief secretary and Rajesh Khullar, principal secretary to the CM.
Celebrations starting on November 1 will go on till October 31, 2017. MPs, ministers and MLAs of Haryana, and various union ministers and chief ministers of other states have been invited for the event.
Principal secretary to CM, additional chief secretary (home) Ram Niwas, additional chief secretary (public works department) Hardeep Kumar, director general of police KP Singh, principal resident commissioner Anand Mohan Sharan, director of information public relations and languages department Sameerpal Srow, and coordinator for Golden Jubilee Celebrations retired IAS Rajeev Sharma were present.
